The History
The Adelaide Hills region of South Australia is made up of a maze of valleys and sub-valleys, with slopes that offer every conceivable aspect and a wealth of mesoclimates. It’s this variation in terrain that has attracted a talented cast of winemakers and growers to the area- like Rainbo and Gareth Belton of Gentle Folk Wines.
After hanging up their lab coats following careers as successful marine biologists, Rainbo and Gareth set to work learning about farming and winemaking from those at the forefront of the Natural wine movement in Aus.
The Philosophy
Today they farm ~7.5ha Biodynamically themselves (with the help of friends and family when they can swing it) and make wine with the vintage and simple enjoyment in mind.
Their wines are celebrated amongst drinkers, critics and peers for their balance and structure while remaining playful and highly drinkable.
