2021 Nicolas Maillet Mâcon-Villages

From 45-year-old organic Chardonnay vines in the Mâconnais, Nicolas Maillet crafts this elegant Mâcon-Villages. The grapes, grown in chalky limestone and clay soils, are hand-harvested, spontaneously fermented, and aged in glass-lined enamel tanks using low-sulfur practices. Delicate aromas of fresh fruit and pear lead to a rounded palate with white fruit notes and a refreshing, tangy finish. 

In the quiet village of Verzé, northwest of Mâcon, fourth-generation winegrower Nicolas Maillet operates with little fanfare beyond France. Locally, however, he is a highly respected mentor to aspiring organic winemakers, inspiring many to pursue their dreams of sustainable viticulture.
