The History

The name of the winery is given for the name of its owner, Fred David. The Vignobles David is a property of 53 hectares planted with vines and olive trees. Located in Saint-Hilaire Ozilhan, this family estate is run by Alain and Frédéric David since 1991. The vineyard is located in the southern Rhone Valley, in front of the famous Pont du Gard, near Avignon, Nîmes and Uzès.

Many people know this winery by the name of the kosher wine it sells here in the US: Le Mourre de l’Isle.

The Philosophy

The 46 hectares of vineyards, vinified and bottled at the winery since 2005, are operated according to the principles of sustainable agriculture, part of which is certified organic. They are planted on a mosaic of soils of the Rhône Valley containing Rhône pebbles generated by the quaternary terraces, clay-limestone soils, Miocene sands, garrigue, scrubland and stony loams.

The kosher label is based on very strict specifications; from the harvest to bottling, all handling is carried out by rabbinical representatives. The kosher wine, previously purified by three successive baths of water, is placed in separate tanks so as not to come into contact with other wines. Hebrew songs rise up in the darkness of the cellars.
